Guardian's testimony

A fire broke out in the bank. At the same time he was robbed. According to the guard, he wanted to save a whole bag of money from burning, but right before the emergency exit he stopped to tie a string. At that moment the door of the emergency exit opened and hit him on the head.

He lost consciousness, and when he came to, the bag of money was gone.

Why did the police arrest the guard?
