 Kid Inventors’ Day

Do you know what combines water skis, fur headphones, ice Popsicles and Braille alphabet?

First the question: Do you know what combines water skis, fur headphones, ice Popsicles and Braille alphabet? Yes, all these obvious objects were invented by children.

Every year on January 17, The Day of Children's Inventions is celebrated all over the world or,  another names - The Day of Children-Inventors, Kid Inventors' Day.

Annually more than 500 thousand children and teenagers invent different gadgets and games, create and modify robots and equipment. All children's inventions, of course, make our life more convenient and interesting.

And today is the day when you need to rejoice in the ingenuity of young geniuses, to evaluate the significance of their numerous inventions and to encourage versatile children's talents.

It is symbolic that the date of the Day is the birthday of one of the prominent Americans - statesman, diplomat, scientist, inventor, journalist Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790). It is remarkable that his first invention - a pair of fins for swimming that were worn on his hands - was invented by Ben Franklin at the age of 12 years.

Franklin's young compatriot, 13-year-old Benny Benson sent his sketch to the Alaska National Flag contest in 1926. The blue color, symbolizing the sky and the official flower of the state of forget-me-not, the image of the Great Bear constellation and the Polar Star led the boy to victory. Undoubtedly, the flag of Alaska and today looks very stylish.

And the trampoline? The idea of its creation, it would seem, lay on the surface. And in 1930, watching aerial gymnastics competitions, a certain George Nissen noticed how gymnasts jump to the safety net at the end of his performance. The acrobats' performance usually ended with this, but the 16-year-old teenager thought and decided to make a “bouncing device” in which he could jump up and perform various stunts in the air.

You can enumerate children's inventions endlessly, recalling fingerless gloves, a square-bottom paper bag, and a calculator - all of which brought brilliant minds of young inventors into our lives.

On the Day of Children's Inventions, there are numerous demonstrations of new inventions, competitions, and awards. There is always a fervent laugh, jokes, music, because inventing is the natural state of all children.
