Wallace H Carothers from the central laboratory of the firm "DuPont de Nemours" in Wilmington in 1934 synthesized polyamide resin.
February 28, 1935 on its basis Carothers with a group of chemists from the same laboratory created a new synthetic fiber. This is the first synthetic fiber in the world called nylon.
