March 18, 1965
Space suit "Berkut" ( "Golden Eagle")
This happened on March 18, 1965. Alexei Leonov was outside the "Voskhod-2" about 12 minutes.
He climbed out of the hatch and, with a slight push, separated himself from the ship and sailed sideways to the length of the cable-phal that connected him to the ship. Before returning to the ship, the astronaut removed the camera from the bracket, wrapped a halyard in his hand and entered the airlock.
For the spacewalk in the NGO "Zvezda" ("Star") a special "Berkut" space suit was created.
A training in spacewalk was carried out in a Tu-104 plane, where a full-scale model of the Voskhod-2 spacecraft was installed.
After some time after the spacewalk of cosmonaut Leonov, the same experiment was repeated to the Americans.
On June 3, 1965, American cosmonauts James McDivatt and Edward White, who started on the Gemini-4 spacecraft, opened the hatch, and White went out into space.
