PiscesMarch 5. The nature of those born on this day is often torn apart by deep internal contradictions imperceptible to a simple glance.

To those around them, these people may seem smart, kind and rather delicate individuals, while they are desperately trying to overcome the demon living in them.

Extremely secretive, those born on this day rarely allow themselves to openly express their true feelings.

No matter what happens, the mask of external impartiality reliably protects them from the prying eyes of the crowd.

March 5 in history (15 events): or "The Copernican system was banned"

The main work of Copernicus, the result of more than 40 years of his work - "On the conversion of heavenly spheres." The work was published in Nuremberg in 1543. In it, he formulated the basic principles of the heliocentric system, in contrast to the then accepted geocentric system.

The Copernican model of the world was a colossal step forward and a crushing blow to archaic authorities. The Catholic Church, engaged in the struggle against the Reformation, initially condescendingly approached the new astronomy. But even then separate bishops made fierce criticism of heliocentrism as a dangerous god-forgiving heresy.

On February 19, 1616, the experts of the Inquisition were presented with two provisions that incorporated the essence of the teachings of Copernicus. The first was that the Sun is the center of the universe and, therefore, motionless. And the second, that the Earth is not the center of the universe, it is not fixed and moves as an integral body and besides makes daily circulation.

As a result of the conclusion of experts on March 5, 1616, Copernicus's book On the Circulation of the Celestial Spheres was included in the Index of Prohibited Books, since it contradicted the Holy Scriptures.

The most famous consequence of this decision in the 17th century was the trial of Galileo, which violated the church ban in its book "Dialogues about the two most important systems of the world." In the future, the system of the astronomer was allowed to be used only as a model for calculating the motion of planets as having no relation to the nature of mathematical abstraction.

The Vatican lifted its ban only two centuries later.
