GeminiJune 14Resolute and stubborn personalities born on June 14 are very insightful and accurate in their observations and assessments of what is happening. As a rule, they have their own opinion, are loyal, and demonstrate enviable courage in a worthy fight.

They are convincing in presenting their ideas and opinions, and since they are well versed in the intricacies of human nature, they can easily expose hypocrisy and pretense.

World Blood Donor Day

The holiday is timed to the birthday of Karl Landsteiner - an Austrian physician and immunologist, a Nobel laureate who discovered the blood groups in humans.

World Blood Donor Day was selected and established by three organizations advocating for voluntary, free blood donation: the International Federation of Red Cross Societies, the International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations and the International Blood Transfusion Society.

The donor comes from the Latin "donare" - "give". The biblical expression: “the hand of the giver will never become scanty” has the most direct relation to the donor. An adult without danger to his life can lose about a liter of blood. At the blood transfusion department - 400 ml. This amount of blood is restored by the body very quickly. At the same time this give a powerful incentive to work the endocrine and immune systems of the donor body.

It has been noticed that people who donate blood for a long time are not susceptible to colds and flu, less likely to suffer from cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Beneficial effect of donation is a mental health.

World Blood Donor Day provides an opportunity to express gratitude to people who voluntarily donate their blood, without receiving special remuneration for it, to those who do it on a regular basis - two, three or more times a year.
Every year, events on this Day are held under a certain motto. The theme of this year’s campaign is: blood donation as an act of solidarity. It implies such fundamental human values as altruism, respect, sympathy and kindness that underlie voluntary blood donation systems.
The World Health Organization adopted the slogan “Think of others. Donate blood. Share Your Life ” to draw attention to the fact that voluntary donation systems urge us to take care of others and build social ties and a solid community.
