LibraOctober 1Born on this day are more likely than others to be the masters of the situation, whether in a profession, social circle or family.

As a rule, they achieve this not so much with penetrating power or increased aggressiveness, as with the ability to work and look into the future.

It is usually very difficult to disagree with their arguments, as those born on September 30 are able to collect really impressive information to support what they are saying.

People around you instinctively feel the extraordinary data of those who were born on this day, which sometimes even creates certain difficulties, since those born on October 1 are by no means ambitious. Moreover, being at the top is a huge stress for them, mostly psychological, which is very difficult to cope with.

In Vienna, released the world's first postcard with the stamp

The prototype of modern illustrated postcards can be called the French postcard, released in November 1870 by bookseller Leon Benardo.

The idea of such an innovative communication system was expressed nine months earlier by the professor of political economy of the Vienna Military Academy Immanuel Hermann in the newspaper Neue Frye Press. He also suggested making the postcard sending itself cheaper than sending a letter.

On October 1, 1869, the first postcard in the world with a stamp was released in Vienna. In sheets of thick paper the size of a standard postal envelope with lines for an address and the Austro-Hungarian coat of arms simply “stamped” two kreutzer marks.

Correspondent cards instantly gained popularity: in the first two months, about 3 million were sold. These postcards, of course, did not look like modern illustrated postcards. However, very soon the publishers thought about how to make a postcard more attractive.

The prototype of modern illustrated postcards can be called the French postcard, released in November 1870 by bookseller Leon Benardo (the plot of it is the Franco-Prussian war). The inscription on it read: “Souvenir de la defense nationale” (Memory of the national defense). Probably after that the word “Souvenir” immediately became fashionable: the publishers of many countries began to print it on postcards with views of cities.

Such postcards quickly became popular - after all, they became not just a means of postal communication, but also an excellent advertisement and a pleasant souvenir.

With the development of railways and tourism, interest in postcards with views has rapidly increased.

For example, a postcard with the image of a postman was in particular demand: from his bag one could extract (in the direct sense of the word) a whole series of miniature views of the city.

Despite the small print runs, many old postcards have survived. They are preserved in family archives, from collectors, in collections of museums and libraries. This is a valuable documentary and historical material that has not yet been fully studied. There is a lot of curious, not only for historians, but also for writers, artists, ethnographers, and journalists.
